Carol Looker 1945 – 2020

Carol Looker 26th January 1945 – 21st August 2020

It is with great sadness that I post that my mother, Carol Looker, passed away on Friday 21st August 2020 at 8.10 at home as she wanted with her family after a brief fight against abdominal cancer. Her final hours were peaceful and I don’t think she felt any pain.

Apart from being a great mum and grandmother, she was a Wilburton social club mainstay and her work with her church brought her a lot of happiness, but it was her near legendary devotion to CUFC which was her true joy.

In her last few days she was still talking about football and decided that everyone going to her funeral should wear something black and something amber. I will leave you to guess what music she has requested but it will make you smile.

Funeral

Due to COVID-19 regulations there will be a small funeral at Cambridge Crematorium on the 10th September 2020 at 12pm in the West Chapel.

Family flowers only.

Given the COVID-19 restrictions we will look to arrange a bigger celebration of Mum’s life when the situation improves.

Carol’s Causes

If you would prefer to donate to one of my mother’s causes in leu of flowers these pages have been setup:

Weʼre raising £600 to sponsor a player in memory of “The Queen of the Abbey” Carol Looker.

This is to sponsor a CUFC player in my mum’s name. Not only will this honour my mum but it will help fund the club she loved for another year.

www.justgiving.comMy mum was legendary for selling raffle tickets. So, dig deep for her last raffle, 50p for one, £1 for a strip or whatever you can afford. The prize is thinking of my mum one last time advancing toward you with a raffle book in one hand, a bucket of coins in the other and that smile on her face.

All proceeds will go to Cambridge United Community Trust.
